Political instability and institutional crises in Venezuela and Peru

Economist Juan Pablo Ventosa has highlighted the consequences of inadequate technical competence in public management, specifically citing the case of Venezuela. He argues that the subordination of public administration to political interests under the Chavismo model led to the demolition of institutions and the collapse of essential services. This mismanagement and the concentration of power contributed to widespread impoverishment and the emigration of over 8 million Venezuelans.

In Peru, political analyst Julio Failoc Rivas warned that ongoing disputes within the bicameral Congress are weakening democratic institutions. Failoc noted that legislative instability and political shifting among representatives could hinder the technical and timely distribution of emergency funds. Specifically, he expressed concern that these political tensions may impede the government's ability to respond to the El Niño phenomenon, which threatens different regions with intense rains and severe frosts.
