Political scrutiny intensifies in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina

In Montenegro, Srđan Perić, President of the Podgorica City Assembly, reported that an inspection reportedly entered the assembly without physical presence or formal requests for documentation. Perić claimed the move was a political maneuver by Mayor Saša Mujović to limit citizen participation in local government decisions. The City Assembly had previously requested inspection oversight regarding consultations with citizens on upcoming legislative items.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the HDZ 1990 council in Široki Brijeg has demanded transparency from Mayor Ive Pavković following a Federal Police Administration (FUP) operation. On August 31, federal police seized documentation from the City Administration as part of an investigation by the Special Department of the Prosecutor's Office (POSKOK) into multi-million mark payments related to waste removal and disposal. Local officials are seeking clarification on whether the investigation involves public procurement, contracts, or financial transactions within the city administration.
