Political and legal disputes in Montenegro and Bosnia

Political and legal tensions are rising across Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina involving local government administration and oversight.

In Montenegro, disputes have emerged regarding municipal control and legislative procedures. In Tivat, Mayor Željko Komnenović and certain political groups have challenged the legitimacy of the assembly majority, characterizing attempts to form new coalitions as a “brutal violation of the voters' will.” Additionally, the Tivat Public Utility Company declined to pursue criminal charges against Assembly President Miljan Marković despite findings that the Municipal Assembly violated local self-government laws. In Podgorica, City Assembly President Srđan Perić reported that an inspection entered the assembly without formal requests, alleging the move was a political maneuver to limit citizen participation.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the HDZ 1990 council in Široki Brijeg has called for transparency following a Federal Police Administration operation. Federal police seized documentation from the City Administration as part of an investigation by the Special Department of the Prosecutor's Office into multi-million mark payments related to waste removal and disposal.
