Political shifts and leadership disputes emerge within Turkey's CHP

Political developments within Turkey's Republican People's Party (CHP) have drawn scrutiny regarding internal leadership and local governance. Recent reports highlight claims made by party spokesperson Müslim Sarı regarding Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş. Sarı claimed to be in frequent contact with Yavaş and suggested the Mayor wished to continue his political career under the CHP umbrella, a statement that was promptly denied by Yavaş’s office.

In Ankara's Gölbaşı district, six members of the Municipal Council have reportedly left the CHP to join the AKP. Critics have questioned the motivations behind these transfers, suggesting personal interests may be involved.

In İzmir, Balçova Mayor Onur Yiğit has been reinstated to his position following a decision by the Ministry of Interior. Yiğit had previously been suspended from duty as a temporary measure due to an ongoing investigation. While the reinstatement does not imply an acquittal or the conclusion of the legal process, it marks his return to office following a change in judicial control measures.
