Political tensions in Spain and defense budget shifts in Argentina

In Spain, tensions have surfaced within the government following Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s announcement in Congress regarding the Ceuta immigration crisis. Sánchez pledged to publish all intelligence reports from the CNI to ensure transparency concerning the mass entry of migrants and Morocco's involvement. During the session, Defense Minister Margarita Robles, who is politically responsible for the CNI, notably refused to applaud the announcement and was seen in a heated exchange with Minister Félix Bolaños.

In Argentina, President Javier Milei has issued two emergency decrees to increase funding for the Integrated Naval Base (BNI) in Ushuaia. The move aims to strengthen the defense of natural resources in the Malvinas Islands and its surrounding zone. The budget reallocation provides the Air Force with over 8 billion pesos for operational readiness and military infrastructure, as well as 2 billion pesos for IT equipment. This increased defense spending is being financed through significant cuts to national social assistance for personnel and reduced transfers to provincial governments.
