Overview

In Argentina, President Javier Milei has initiated a series of budget reallocations and emergency decrees to bolster national defense. Initial measures via Decree 867/2026 directed approximately 140 million USD to the Ministry of Defense to modernize equipment and support the construction of an integrated naval base in Tierra del Fuego. These defense expenditures are being financed through significant cuts to national social assistance and reduced transfers to provincial governments.
