Indonesia strengthens creative economy through international partnerships and AI

Indonesia is implementing several strategic initiatives to bolster its national creative economy. The Ministry of Creative Economy, led by Teuku Riefky Harsya, has established the Indonesia–India Creative Tech Corridor at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone. This partnership aims to utilize artificial intelligence to develop local intellectual property and expand audiovisual content into global markets.

During the 2026 National Creative Economy Day (Hekrafnas) celebrations, various organizations announced new collaborations. The Indonesia Creative Cities Network (ICCN) reported expanding its reach to 277 regencies and cities to accelerate regional creative development. Additionally, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Creative Economy Movement (GEKRAFS) to support and protect the creative industry ecosystem.

Other highlights include the use of international events, such as the YE Live in Jakarta concert, as training grounds for local talent to meet global production standards. Leaders emphasized that the creative sector is a key driver of national growth, aligned with the government's 'Asta Cita' development agenda.
