Pomerania forests see significant mushroom harvest
A significant mushroom harvest is currently underway in the forests of Pomerania, Poland. Foragers are reporting large quantities of various species, including bay boletes, porcini, birch boletes, and chanterelles. The abundance is attributed to recent rainfall and favorable temperatures that have increased forest floor moisture.
Popular foraging locations include the Kashubia region, areas around Kościerzyna, Kartuzy, Chmielno, Przywidza, Kolbudy, and the Bory Tucholskie forest complex. Mushroom activity is also being noted closer to the Tricity area, specifically near Gdańsk, Otomin, Łapino, and Kolbudy.
To assist with the season, digital tools such as mushroom maps are gaining popularity online. These platforms aggregate reports from foragers across Poland to help others predict harvest waves and locate productive areas during the peak season, which typically runs from September to October.
