Poniec municipality revamps silted pond into retention reservoir for new Berlinek estate
The Gmina Poniec in western Poland is undertaking the "Reconstruction of the Pond in Poniec" project to clean a long‑neglected, silted pond and convert it into a retention reservoir serving the newly built residential district of Berlinek. The work includes dredging the pond, improving storm‑water retention for the estate and partially re‑channeling a nearby ditch.
The contract, valued at 184,500 zł, was awarded to Mechanika – Usługi Jerzy Golański of Pomykowo after a tender process. The municipality received 92,250 zł (50 % of the total) from the Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Poznań. According to Marcin Pazdaj, the village secretary, the water body will act as a protective, retention feature, helping to mitigate heavy rain, drought effects and enhance the area's natural and aesthetic value.
