Pontevedra approves funds for Vigo street humanization project

The Diputación de Pontevedra has approved the allocation of 1,569,494 euros for the humanization project of San Roque Street in Vigo, specifically the section between Gregorio Espino and Ruiseñor Street. The total budget for the project is 2,271,099 euros, with the provincial government covering 69% and the Vigo City Council providing the remaining 31% (701,605 euros).

Luisa Sánchez, Vice President of the Diputación, described the move as a “rescue of the rescue,” noting that these funds originate from 6.2 million euros previously recovered due to a lack of budget execution by the local government. Sánchez stated that this marks the third time in three years that the Diputación has recovered funds for the Vigo local government, totaling 10.3 million euros across these processes.

The project will now proceed to approval by the respective provincial and local governing boards, with the aim of signing a one-year extension valid until September 30, 2027.
