Popda Jawa Tengah 2026: Jepara and Surakarta secure major athletic achievements

The 2026 Popda Jawa Tengah regional student sports competition has concluded, highlighting significant achievements for several regencies in Central Java.

Jepara Regency secured fifth place overall, earning 25 gold, 16 silver, and 8 bronze medals. Karate emerged as a standout discipline for the region, contributing nine gold medals and earning the title of karate general champion. Officials noted that this success is the result of long-term training and participation in various provincial and national competitions since late 2025.

In the basketball category, the Surakarta men's team claimed the gold medal after defeating Semarang with a score of 59-47 in the final held at Sahabat Arena Semarang. The victory is being cited as a successful outcome of the city's continuous athlete development programs.
