Pope Francis's private diary to be published in November

The Vatican has announced the publication of ‘The Private Diary of Pope Francis,’ a collection of personal notes written by Jorge Mario Bergoglio spanning over three decades. The volume, which includes entries from December 1992 to August 2024, covers his time as an auxiliary bishop in Argentina, his tenure as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, and his pontificate from 2013 until his death on April 21, 2025.

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, will present and comment on the entries to provide historical and spiritual context. The Vatican described the work as a document of ‘exceptional value and importance’ for understanding the inner life and personality of the first Latin American pope.

The book is scheduled for a simultaneous global release on November 24 in five languages across 94 countries. The Libreria Editrice Vaticana will handle the Italian edition, while Penguin Random House will publish the Spanish, English, and Portuguese versions. Editions Albin Michel will manage the French release.
