Pope Leon XIV plans three‑day Argentina visit in November
The Vatican is conducting reserved consultations on a possible first‑ever pilgrimage of Pope Leon XIV to Argentina, targeted for the first week of November. The itinerary is still provisional and no official announcement has been made.
The draft agenda centers on a three‑day stay focused on mass public contact. In Buenos Aires the pope would meet President Javier Milei and national officials, and a large open‑air celebration is being considered for Avenida 9 de Julio, potentially featuring a Mass, a papamobile procession, or another pastoral event. A visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján – the country’s principal Marian shrine – is also under review, along with a stop in Córdoba, valued for its historic and strategic position. Additional venues such as River Plate’s Estadio Monumental have been floated. The Argentine leg would form part of a broader South‑American tour that may also include Uruguay and Peru.
