Pope Leo XIV assists collapsed pilgrim at St. Peter's Square

During his Wednesday general audience on St. Peter's Square, Pope Leo XIV stopped the proceedings to help a pilgrim who fainted in the heat. The man, believed to have suffered a heat‑related weakness, was placed in a wheelchair and taken away after Vatican aides covered him with a cap and a parasol. The Pope knelt beside him before resuming the audience.

The incident occurred amid a heatwave in Rome, with temperatures around 30 °C and red‑alert warnings issued for Rome and other Italian cities expecting up to 35 °C.
