Pope Leo XIV begins 12-day apostolic tour of South America FAST-MOVING

Pope Leo XIV has departed Rome for a 12-day apostolic journey through Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. The trip, which began on November 6, 2026, marks his sixth international tour and follows a recent surgery for lung adenocarcinoma performed on October 13.

In Uruguay, the Pope is scheduled to arrive in Montevideo this afternoon. His itinerary includes a formal welcome at Plaza Independencia, a meeting with President Yamandú Orsi, and a Vespers celebration at the Metropolitan Cathedral. He will also visit Paysandú and Florida.

The tour will continue in Argentina starting November 8, where he is expected to meet President Javier Milei and visit cities including Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján. The final leg of the journey will take him to Peru, a country where he previously served as a missionary, to visit cities such as Lima, Cusco, and Pucallpa. The Pope is expected to deliver approximately 40 addresses, focusing on themes of social justice, economic inequality, and the ethical challenges of artificial intelligence.
