Pope Leo XIV announces Seoul 2027 World Youth Day registration

Pope Leo XIV has officially opened registrations for the 41st World Youth Day (WYD), scheduled to take place from August 3 to 8, 2027, in Seoul, South Korea. In a video message released on October 22, the Pontiff described the event as a pilgrimage of faith, friendship, and hope rather than a mere sightseeing trip.

The upcoming gathering marks the first WYD under Leo XIV’s pontificate and represents the event’s return to Asia. The Pope encouraged young people to bring their dreams, struggles, and hopes to the pilgrimage, emphasizing that the diversity of cultures and languages will foster a greater sense of unity within the Church.

Registration for packages including lodging is set to close on May 31, 2027, while non-lodging registration will remain open after that date. The announcement coincided with the liturgical memorial of Saint John Paul II, the founder of World Youth Day.
