Pope Leo XIV recovers following cancer diagnosis and surgery

Pope Leo XIV is recovering following a cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery.

In response to the medical situation, US President Donald Trump sent his best wishes to the Pontiff, marking a notable shift in tone following previous public disagreements regarding immigration and the conflict in Iran.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also issued a message to the Pope, expressing the prayers of the Lebanese people. Aoun emphasized that the Pope’s apostolic visits remain deeply embedded in the national and spiritual consciousness of Lebanon across all religious sects, and offered prayers for a swift and full recovery.
