Pope Leo XIV to visit Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru in November 2026
Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to undertake an 11-day apostolic tour of South America from November 6 to 17, 2026, visiting Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. The Vatican confirmed the itinerary will cover ten cities across the three nations.
In Uruguay, the Pope will stay from November 6 to 8, visiting Montevideo, Paysandú, and Florida. His visit to Argentina will follow from November 8 to 11, with scheduled stops in Buenos Aires, Luján, and Córdoba. In Argentina, the government is evaluating whether to declare a public holiday or school break to accommodate massive crowds, which security authorities expect could reach millions at the Basilica of Luján. The Catholic Church has also launched a national collection to help cover the significant logistical, security, and infrastructure costs of the visit.
The final leg of the tour will take place in Peru from November 11 to 16, covering Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa. The Pope is expected to return to the Vatican on November 17. In Peru, the government has declared the visit to be of national interest, and high-level committees are already coordinating logistics and security.
