Argentina prepares for Pope Leo XIV's official visit in November

Argentina is finalizing preparations for the official visit of Pope Leo XIV, scheduled from November 8 to 11, 2026. The Argentine government, through Decree 1127/2026 signed by President Javier Milei and Chief of Staff Diego Santilli, has established a Special Temporary Executive Unit to manage the logistics, security, and protocol of the trip. The unit will be led by Mariana Vello.

The Pope's itinerary includes stops in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján. During his stay in Buenos Aires, he will reside at the Apostolic Nunciature located in the Palacio Fernández Anchorena in the Recoleta neighborhood, which will also serve as a venue for private audiences with various social, political, and religious leaders.

In anticipation of the visit, Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof has declared Pope Leo XIV an 'Illustrious Visitor' of the province. Public sentiment appears largely positive; a nationwide survey by Zuban Córdoba indicates that 68.5 percent of Argentines hold a favorable view of the Pontiff. Local communities and religious organizations are already organizing travel and volunteer efforts to support the upcoming events.
