Pope Leo XIV to visit Argentina in November

Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit Argentina from November 8 to 11, with an itinerary spanning Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján. The visit includes meetings with President Javier Milei, religious leaders, and various community groups. A public holiday has been decreed for November 11 to coincide with a mass at the Basilica of Luján.

Preparations are underway, including a massive volunteer call by the Argentine Episcopal Conference. Organizers estimate a need for approximately 20,000 volunteers to assist with logistics, communication, and health services. As of recent reports, over 8,000 people have already pre-registered. Volunteers must be between 18 and 65 years old and are required to undergo mandatory training.

In Córdoba, provincial authorities are coordinating with both government and opposition leaders to manage the event. Additionally, Toyota is preparing two specially adapted Hilux vehicles to serve as the Pope's mobile, which will be donated to the Holy See following the trip. In Buenos Aires, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad has been active in the lead-up to the visit, meeting with youth in the Retiro villa and religious leaders to foster interreligious dialogue.
