Pope Leo XIV to visit Uruguay and Argentina in November 2026

Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to undertake an apostolic journey to Uruguay and Argentina in November 2026. The visit to Uruguay will begin on November 6, featuring a welcome ceremony in Montevideo and a mass in Florida. In Argentina, the Pope will travel from November 8 to 11, with stops in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján.

Preparations are underway across multiple regions. In Córdoba, authorities are coordinating through eleven thematic working groups, and a three-ton sculpture of Cura Brochero is being constructed for the event. In Luján, the city is preparing for a massive mass at the Basilica on November 11. Digital registration for masses has opened, with specific requirements for clergy and youth events.

Logistical and economic impacts are already visible. Accommodation searches in Luján have surged, with some rental prices reaching as high as US$16,500 per night. Over 25,000 volunteers have registered to assist with the event. Security officials anticipate a total attendance of approximately seven million people throughout the Argentine visit.
