Pope Leon XIV Plans Possible November 2026 Visit to Five Peruvian Cities

Pope Leon XIV indicated that an apostolic trip to Peru could take place in the first half of November 2026. Preliminary talks between the Vatican and the Peruvian government, led by President José María Balcázar and Foreign Minister Carlos Pareja, have outlined a tentative itinerary that would include Lima, Callao, Chiclayo, Pucallpa and Arequipa. The pope, secularly known as Robert Prevost, previously served as a missionary and bishop in Trujillo and Chiclayo, fostering strong ties with the country. While the Holy See has not confirmed official dates or a detailed program, authorities are preparing logistics, security and pastoral activities, expecting large pilgrimages that could boost local economies and promote dialogue with vulnerable communities.
