Pope Leon XIV to visit Peru in November, itinerary includes Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco and Pucallpa

The Vatican announced that Pope Leon XIV will travel to Peru from 11 to 17 November. The preliminary schedule lists masses and public events in Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco and Pucallpa, as well as a private meeting with President Keiko Fujimori at the Palacio de Gobierno.

A proposed stop at the San Juan de Lurigancho prison – the country’s largest penitentiary – has been forwarded to the Holy See for approval, which would mark the first papal visit to a Peruvian jail. Additional planned activities include a ceremony at Lima’s Basilica Cathedral honoring the relics of Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo and a youth gathering to close the celebrations of the saint’s 300th canonisation anniversary. The final itinerary is expected to be confirmed in October.
