Pordenone begins urban redevelopment and cultural preparations for 2027

Pordenone is undergoing significant urban and cultural transformations as it prepares for its designation as the Italian Capital of Culture 2027.

In terms of urban infrastructure, redevelopment work is set to begin on Piazza del Popolo and the Centro Studi gardens. The project, expected to last six months and conclude by March, aims to unify these two separate areas into a single urban green space. The construction process will involve temporary changes to local traffic and parking, with work being carried out in phases to manage site safety and accessibility.

Simultaneously, the city is launching a two-year program of cultural exhibitions to build momentum toward its 2027 title. The upcoming schedule includes over 50 exhibitions spanning ancient and contemporary art, photography, archaeology, and science. These events will involve local museums, galleries, and libraries, often in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The program intends to highlight the connection between culture and local industry while showcasing both established international names and emerging artists.
