Pordenone Book Festival 2026 Unveils Program and Free Documentary Screening

The 27th edition of the Pordenone Book Festival (Pordenonelegge) will run from 16‑20 September 2026 across 45 venues in Pordenone and Friuli‑Venezia Giulia. The online programme lists more than 650 international writers, with all sessions offered free of charge until seats run out. A notable highlight is the appearance of Vera Politkovskaja, daughter of the assassinated journalist Anna Politkovskaja, who will read from her memoir "Una madre" on 20 September at 15:30.

On 21 July 2026, the festival’s UAU! Arena summer series will present a free outdoor screening of the documentary "Nella colonia penale" at the Giardini Francesca Trombino, followed by a public discussion with director Alberto Diana and prison‑related activists. The film examines Italy’s remaining penal colonies in Sardinia, where detainees work alongside livestock, prompting debate on the nature of confinement and community.
