Pordenone hosts 45th edition of silent film festival

The 45th edition of the Giornate del Cinema Muto is currently taking place in Pordenone, running through October 10. The festival features silent film screenings accompanied by live musical performances, including solo piano and various ensembles. Key venues for the event include the Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Verdi and Cinemazero.

During the opening of the festival, Friuli Venezia Giulia Vice Governor Mario Anzil highlighted the event's international importance and its role in positioning Pordenone as a cultural driver, especially as the city prepares to serve as the Italian Capital of Culture in 2027. The program includes a diverse selection of restored films, rare finds, and productions from Europe and America, spanning various historical eras and geographic origins.
