Porirua Whānau Centre secures housing funding and community grant
Porirua Whānau Centre has secured significant support through both government funding and private community grants to bolster services for whānau in the Wellington region.
The organization has been selected as one of three preferred delivery partners for the Government’s new Housing Flexible Fund. This initiative will enable the construction of 55 new social and affordable homes in the Wellington area, part of a broader national program aimed at delivering 823 homes across Aotearoa. The project focuses on providing housing that maintains existing community, school, and healthcare connections for local families.
Additionally, the Porirua Whānau Centre received a $20,000 community grant from Mercury. This funding is intended to provide practical assistance, such as emergency supply kits and care packages, for families facing sudden financial hardship in Cannons Creek and the wider Wellington region.
