Porsche confirms electric 718 production and keeps Taycan in lineup
Porsche CEO Michael Leiters told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the company will proceed with the all‑electric 718 Boxster/Cayman, planning production for 2027. He said the decision is driven by economic rationale and that the model will share its platform with the upcoming electric Audi TT. Leiters also confirmed that the Taycan will remain in production in the short term, though the number of its variants will be reduced to simplify the range.
In parallel, Porsche unveiled a hybrid version of its flagship 911 Carrera GTS for the 2025 model year. The 911 hybrid combines a 3.6‑litre twin‑turbo flat‑six with an integrated electric motor for a total output of 541 hp and a brief electric‑only mode of about six miles.
These announcements signal Porsche’s continued push toward electrification while retaining key internal‑combustion models such as the 911.
