Porsche CEO Michael Leiters outlines Taycan future and new model plan

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters told the FAZ that the Taycan will not be discontinued in the short term. The company will trim the number of Taycan variants to reduce complexity, and the current upgrade could be the last before the model is eventually replaced by an electric Panamera.

Leiters also presented the broader “Sportwagenschmiede 2035” strategy, which aims to cut costs, cut about 5,000 jobs, and launch new models, including a new internal‑combustion SUV positioned above the Cayenne and a sport‑car above the 911. Revenue and sales have declined, and the impact of the new models is not expected until 2028‑29, with a ten‑year plan to restore profitability.
