Porsche considering shift of Cayenne production from Slovakia to Leipzig

Porsche is evaluating moving the production of all Cayenne variants from its Bratislava plant in Slovakia to its Leipzig facility in Germany. The proposal aims to better utilise under‑occupied capacity at the German site and lower labour costs, as wages in Slovakia are currently cheaper than in Germany.

The relocation would proceed only if an agreement with employee representatives is reached. The plan is part of new CEO Michael Leiters' broader cost‑reduction strategy, which already includes a programme to cut about 3,900 jobs by 2029 and could affect additional positions at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen headquarters and the Weissach development centre.
