Porsche expands SUV lineup with electric Cayenne and new gas-powered Macan successor

Porsche is advancing its electrification strategy with significant updates to its SUV lineup. The brand is developing a fourth-generation Cayenne Electric built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which was co-developed with Audi. This new model features active aerodynamics, including adaptive rear spoilers and front panels that adjust to manage battery and brake temperatures, aiming for a drag coefficient of 0.25. The interior will introduce a vertical OLED ‘Flow Display’ with augmented reality capabilities.

Additionally, Porsche is reportedly planning a successor to the internal combustion engine Macan. As the current Macan transitions to an EV-only model, a new gas-powered or hybrid model—potentially named ‘Cajun’ or ‘Octan’—is expected. This new model may be based on the Audi Q5 platform and aims to offer a more accessible price point compared to the high-end Macan EV, targeting a segment closer to the previous generation’s pricing.
