Porsche 911 Challenge announced as new entry-level race car

Porsche has unveiled the 911 Challenge, a new entry-level race car designed to bridge the gap between track-day driving and professional motorsport. Scheduled for competition debut in the 2027 season, the vehicle replaces the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport as the starting point in Porsche’s customer racing ladder, effectively transitioning the brand’s entire GT racing lineup to the 911 platform.

Based heavily on the production 911 GT3, the Challenge utilizes significant amounts of road-car technology to reduce operating costs and ease the learning curve for amateur drivers. It features a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing approximately 508 to 515 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. To facilitate driver adaptation, the car retains adjustable electronic aids such as ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control, as well as air conditioning.

Despite its production-based roots, the 911 Challenge is a dedicated track-only machine not homologated for public roads. It is equipped with essential racing hardware, including a welded roll cage, a racing bucket seat with a six-point harness, a fire suppression system, and an FIA-spec fuel cell. The chassis is upgraded with motorsport-tuned dampers, a three-stage adjustable anti-roll bar, and 18-inch wheels fitted with racing slicks. Prices for the model are reported to be around $275,000 in the United States and approximately €208,800 in Europe.
