Porsche launches Cayenne Electric SUV with wireless charging
Porsche has introduced the Cayenne Electric, a zero-emissions variant of its flagship SUV, now available in markets including Argentina. Built on a dedicated electric architecture, the vehicle features a 113 kWh battery and an 800-volt system capable of fast charging up to 400 kW. The Cayenne Turbo Electric variant produces up to 1,156 CV and 1,500 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 200 km/h acceleration in 7.4 seconds.
Alongside the vehicle launch, Porsche is rolling out a new wireless inductive charging system. This technology allows the vehicle to charge by parking over a weatherproof ground pad, offering a charging rate of up to 11 kW with approximately 90% efficiency. The system includes safety mechanisms, such as motion sensors and foreign object detection, to automatically halt charging if a living creature or metallic object is detected near the pads. The wireless charging feature is being deployed globally in stages, with availability starting in Germany and other European markets.
