Porsche launches wireless charging for Cayenne Electric

Porsche has officially launched a wireless charging option for the Cayenne Electric, making the technology available to customers in Europe and the United States. The system utilizes an induction-based approach consisting of a ground mat placed on a driveway or garage floor and a receiver mounted under the vehicle.

The technology offers a charging power of up to 11 kW with an efficiency rate exceeding 90 percent. To ensure safety, the system includes sensors designed to detect living beings, such as pets, as well as metal objects or keys, which will trigger an automatic deactivation of the charging process. The ground mat is weather-resistant and connects directly to the electrical grid.

In addition to wireless charging, Porsche is introducing other premium options for the Cayenne Electric, including electric doors, a massage function with 4D audio, and a 'Paint to Sample' customization program. The wireless charging system is offered as an optional extra, with pricing reported around €1,976.
