Porsche Cayenne Electric to feature wireless charging and automated doors
Porsche has introduced several advanced technological features for the upcoming 2027 Cayenne Electric, most notably a wireless inductive charging system. This system allows owners to charge the vehicle by simply parking over a specialized floor plate, eliminating the need for physical cables. The charging process reaches up to 11 kW with an efficiency of approximately 90 percent.
The wireless setup requires a ground-based plate and a receiver installed under the vehicle. For safety, the system uses sensors to monitor for obstacles, animals, or metal objects that could cause overheating, automatically halting the process if detected. While the technology is being rolled out in Europe, Porsche has also confirmed it will be available in the United States.
Other luxury upgrades for the 2027 model include an automated door system using servo motors, allowing doors to open or close via digital keys, mobile apps, or automatically when the driver fastens their seatbelt. The interior will also feature enhanced comfort options, such as 4D sound systems and advanced massage seats utilizing 16 air chambers and six acoustic drivers.
