Porsche reportedly pursuing RUF Automobile acquisition

Porsche is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire RUF Automobile, the Allgäu-based tuning company owned by Alois Ruf. The acquisition is viewed as a strategic move by Porsche CEO Michael Leiters to transform the brand into a dedicated high-end sports car manufacturer, specifically focusing on individually configured combustion engine models as the electric vehicle segment faces challenges. RUF, which holds its own manufacturer certification, could potentially handle the production of these specialized vehicles.

In a separate development, Porsche is reportedly considering the sale of its consulting subsidiary, MHP. The transaction, which could be finalized by the end of August, may involve private equity investors or strategic bidders. MHP provides strategy and IT transformation services to approximately 300 clients across the automotive, manufacturing, aerospace, and defense sectors. This potential divestment aligns with the Volkswagen Group’s ongoing portfolio review to prioritize capital efficiency and strategic relevance.
