Porsche unveils 2035 strategy as eco‑rally spotlights electric and hybrid efficiency
Porsche has appointed Michael Leiters as its new chief executive and presented a strategic plan running to 2035. Leiters says the brand will focus on its sporting DNA, continue to develop combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains, and will not produce a fully electric 911. The plan also includes trimming the model range, such as ending the Taycan Cross‑Turismo and Sport‑Turismo variants in some markets, and increasing platform and component sharing across models like the upcoming electric Macan and Cayenne.
At the same time, the Ayvens Ecomotion Tour 2026—a 301‑km open‑road eco‑rally in Spain—tested fuel‑efficiency reductions against WLTP figures. Twenty‑eight cars from 23 manufacturers competed in three categories: 100 % electric, plug‑in hybrid and hybrid. Winners included the Cupra Tavascan VZ (23.7 % reduction), the BYD Atto 2 DM‑i (17.4 kWh electricity and 6.89 L/100 km gasoline), and the Jeep Compass Altitude (24.49 % reduction). The event highlighted the growing emphasis on low‑consumption performance across the automotive sector.
