Porsche unveils 911 Challenge entry-level race car

Porsche has announced the 911 Challenge, a new entry-level customer motorsport model designed to bridge the gap between the road-legal 911 GT3 and the full-specification GT3 Cup racing car. The vehicle is intended to replace the role previously held by the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport following its discontinuation.

As a track-only vehicle not approved for public roads, the 911 Challenge utilizes significant technology from production GT models. It features a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 508 ps, a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, and electronic driver aids including ABS, traction control, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. To reduce operational costs for enthusiasts, the car uses standard 18-inch five-hole wheels rather than center-lock versions.

The interior is stripped of soundproofing and carpets to prioritize racing functionality, featuring an FIA-certified roll cage, a 110-liter fuel tank, and a fire suppression system. The 911 Challenge is scheduled to be eligible for Porsche one-make racing series starting in the 2027 season. In the United States, the expected price is set at $275,000.
