Gioia Tauro port advances security, labor, and green energy strategies

The Port Authority of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas is advancing strategic developments for the Gioia Tauro port, focusing on security, labor organization, and ecological transition.

Emanuele Crescenti, the Prosecutor of Palmi, led a delegation of magistrates on an institutional visit to the Gioia Tauro port. The visit included discussions with port authorities, the Coast Guard, and the Guardia di Finanza regarding operational activities, development prospects, and the complex security and control systems required for this strategic Mediterranean hub.

Additionally, the Port Authority's Management Committee, led by President Paolo Piacenza, has approved key measures to address labor and sustainability. This includes an update to the Port Organic Plan to better align workforce needs with shifting traffic volumes. The committee is also accelerating green initiatives, such as the implementation of Renewable Energy Communities across the system's ports.
