Port of Southampton completes major quay crane investment
Associated British Ports (ABP) has completed a major quay crane investment program at DP World Southampton. The arrival of two new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes marks the final stage of a significant infrastructure project aimed at strengthening the port’s capacity to handle the world’s largest container vessels.
The total investment in container handling infrastructure is reported to be between $60 million and $74.9 million. Once fully operational, the four new cranes will enhance Southampton’s ability to support international trade, automotive logistics, and cruise operations. The container terminal, operated by DP World, currently handles approximately two million containers annually.
