The Port of Vigo is hosting the International Assembly of European Stevedores, a high-level meeting bringing together approximately 150 sector representatives from various European nations, including France, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Slovenia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Malta, and Croatia, alongside the Spanish port network.

The assembly is led by Antolín Goya, general coordinator of the EDC and the State Coordinator of Sea Workers. During the opening, Carlos Botana, president of the Port Authority of Vigo, emphasized the critical role stevedores and stevedoring companies play in the socioeconomic and logistical chain.

Leaders at the event highlighted the importance of social dialogue and collaborative work to maintain competitiveness and manage the increasing port traffic experienced by Vigo in recent years. Discussions focused on addressing future challenges posed by international market competition and managing high-value cargo, such as automobiles and fish products.
