Port of Vigo to recover 6,000 square meters for container traffic

The Port of Vigo Authority has awarded the contract to demolish eight cement silos located at the Tudela Veguín container terminal. This operation will recover approximately 6,000 square meters of strategic space to meet growing logistical demands.

The project aims to regenerate the area to accommodate increasing container traffic, which is projected to reach a new historical peak in 2026 with an estimated growth of nearly 5%. Following the demolition, the site will be prepared for operational use. While the maximum execution period is eight months, the authority intends to accelerate works to make the surface available by spring 2027.

This intervention is part of a broader reorganization plan and serves as the first phase for the construction of a new Border Control Post (PCF). This new facility is expected to improve inspection services and facilitate foreign trade agility. This project follows a previous removal of eight silos conducted between 2015 and 2019.
