Port Polska airport project faces construction delays in Poland

Construction of the Port Polska international airport project, formerly known as Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), faces potential delays due to incomplete legal and environmental documentation. While the Polish government had previously aimed to begin major construction in Baranów near Warsaw by September 2026, project official Piotr Malepszak announced a postponement of foundation piling for the passenger and railway stations to November.

The Mazowieckie provincial administration is currently awaiting additional construction permit filings, specifically regarding environmental impact assessments for the railway station. Infrastructure expert Daniel Radomski noted that construction permits might not be issued until December at the earliest, which could jeopardize the revised November timeline.

As one of the largest infrastructure projects in Polish history, the airport is planned to cover approximately 3,000 hectares. The total investment program for the airport complex, high-speed rail, and related infrastructure is estimated at 131.7 billion zloty, with a projected completion target of 2032.
