Nova Iguaçu expands itinerant service center to three neighborhoods
The City of Nova Iguaçu is expanding its itinerant General Service and Ombudsman Center to the neighborhoods of Palhada, Vila Nova, and Metropolitano this week. Managed by the Municipal Secretariat of General Service and Ombudsman (SEMAGO), the program aims to decentralize public administration by bringing services directly to residents.
Key services available through the mobile unit include IPTU tax assistance, such as registration, name transfers, debt renegotiation, and requests for debt extinction through prescription. Additionally, the Ombudsman's office will handle requests regarding public lighting, pothole repairs, sewage unblocking, and reports of irregular waste disposal.
The initiative follows a successful pilot week in the Cerâmica, Alto da Posse, and Ouro Verde neighborhoods, where the mobile unit performed 89 IPTU-related services, nearly matching the volume handled by the city's fixed service center.
