Porto Alegre police arrest 15 suspects in murder investigation

Police in Rio Grande do Sul launched ‘Operação Olimpo’ to investigate the disappearance and execution of 25-year-old Weslley Gonçalves de Oliveira in Porto Alegre. The operation resulted in 15 arrests and the seizure of firearms and luxury vehicles.

Investigators determined the murder was motivated by rivalry between the victim and a former childhood friend after both joined different criminal organizations. The victim's body was discovered in June, one month after he disappeared from the Restinga neighborhood. The operation also extended to Canoas, Caxias do Sul, and Florianópolis.
