Porto da Pedra selects official samba for 2027 Carnival

The samba school Porto da Pedra has selected its official samba-enredo for the 2027 Carnival. The winning composition, Samba 13, was created by a partnership including Bira, Oscar Bessa, Márcio Rangel, Rafael Raçudo, Miguelzinho, Jarrão, Éric Costa, Vinícius Ferreira, and Rafael Gigante.

The theme for the parade, titled ‘Porto Kalunga’, was developed by carnival designers Alex Carvalho and Caio Cidrini. The lyrics focus on African ancestry and the cultural and religious connections between Angola and Brazil, referencing Angolan cities such as Luanda, Catumbela, Benguela, and Lobito. The song also pays tribute to Brazilian musical icons including Martinho da Vila, Dorival Caymmi, João Nogueira, and Djavan.

This victory marks a second consecutive championship for the winning songwriting partnership at the school. The win was also dedicated to the memory of Fernando Macaco, a significant figure in the school's recent history who passed away last year.
