Porto expands medication coverage and geographic reach

Porto has updated its medication coverage service, rebranding ‘Proteção Medicamentos’ to ‘Cobertura Medicamentos’. The new model offers increased flexibility by including both generic and similar prescription medications, whereas the previous version was limited to generics.

The updated plan removes co-payments and instead implements an annual global limit of R$ 5,000 per family. The service maintains a 35-day waiting period and requires a medical prescription. Available through a partnership with RD Saúde, the coverage can be used at Raia and Drogasil pharmacies.

Geographically, the service is expanding beyond São Paulo to include Rio de Janeiro and the Distrito Federal. The monthly fee is set at R$ 9.90 per person and can be added to new Porto health insurance contracts.
