Porto free public transport pass reaches 100,000 users

More than 100,000 people have signed up for the free public transport pass in Porto, according to Mayor Pedro Duarte. Of these users, approximately 50,000 were already existing Andante pass holders, while the other 50,000 represent new users joining the system following the measure's implementation on July 10.

According to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS), a survey of residents indicates that direct connections to destinations (28%) are a more significant motivator for switching to public transit than price (20%). However, cost remains a more highly valued factor for non-residents traveling from the periphery into the city. Other factors influencing transit choices include speed (19%), frequency (17%), and environmental concerns (11%).
