Porto Sudeste expands infrastructure for liquid bulk operations
Porto Sudeste, a private port terminal located in Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, is expanding its infrastructure to accommodate the growing movement of oil and derivatives in Brazil. The project, scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027, will enable up to 144 liquid bulk operations per year.
The expansion involves the construction of new dolphins—maritime structures for vessel mooring—which will create an exclusive area for petroleum and derivatives. This development aims to increase scheduling predictability and reduce logistical constraints. The project responds to rising Brazilian oil production, particularly from the pre-salt layers, which has increased demand for efficient offshore production outflow and transshipment alternatives.
