Porto Velho advances urban drainage and canal revitalization projects

Infrastructure projects are underway in Porto Velho to improve urban drainage and prevent flooding. In the Cai N’Água neighborhood, the revitalization of the Santa Bárbara canal has moved into a new phase following cleaning operations. Teams from the Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinfra) are installing two-meter diameter pipes and containment boxes to enhance water flow. This effort is supported by the Companhia de Águas e Esgotos do Estado de Rondônia (Caerd).

Simultaneously, in the Getúlio Vargas allotment within the Três Vendas district, the Department of Urban Drainage has begun installing 1,000-millimeter diameter concrete pipes on Avenue 4. This installation aims to direct water toward the collector canal near Lobão Park, providing a flow capacity of nearly 3,000 liters per second. Local officials noted that these upgrades are necessary to address drainage challenges identified during recent rainfall.
